1. Get the amp that Atoto just introduced for around $80. It is available on Amazon and is compatible with the S8. On my Ultra, I have one fitted. My 12 Tahoe had a night and day difference with and without the amp, and my Tahoe features a built-in Bose amp that looks to be inoperable due to the conversion to the Atoto. So, nice unit any way, but grab their amp as well. It’s a simple process.

2.  I experimented with the Infinity Reference 6532ix and Polk DB652… Both seem more natural to me than the JBL’s. The JBL bass was rather overdone and leaked into the mid-tones (I couldn’t really EQ it out), making voices and higher frequencies sound muddy. The Polks and Infinity are both slightly quieter than the JBLs, but I believe there is still enough volume to cause hearing damage. I might not bother with the more powerful speakers. Originally planned to go with components in front, which normally demand a little more power. Still undecided. I’m not sure I want to undertake the wiring and crossover mounting, but I’m sure it’ll be worth it.
